7th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment

On 18th September 2009 the Battalion was placed under the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) and deployed in Mavaddipuram, Jaffna to assist in the resettlements of the civilians.

On 8th January 2010 the Battalion was moved to Kegalle and detailed to perform security duties relating to the Presidential Election. On 8th January 2010 the Battalion was moved to Kegalle and detailed to perform security duties relating to the Presidential Election.

In 2011 the Battalion deployed ton security duties relating to the General Election. Troops were also employed on work related to the Anti-Dengue campaign of the Government. Provision of security to VIPs was also tasked to the Battalion.

The Battalion underwent training at the 58 Divisions training school in Katukeliyawa during the period 19th November to 19th December 2011.

On 24th July 2012, Major DS Jayawardena RSP was appointed as the Commanding Officer.

On 4th February 2013 the Battalion was detached from the 58 Division and was placed under command to the 56 Division. Setting up camp in Karualapuliyankulam, Vavuniya the Battalion was tasked to assist the resettlement programmes of the Government. On 18th February 2013 the Battalion took over the responsibilities related to resettlement activities, which were until then handled by the Sri Lanka National Guard.

The HQ Command and Admin Company and the Reinforcement Company were stationed in Karuwalapuliyankulam camp. Rifle companies A, B and C were stationed in Nandimithragama, Salalihinigama and Namalgama respectively and Rifle company D was stationed in Bogaswewa I & II. Starting off with approximately 500 families at the commencement of the resettlement programme, the number grew to 2500 by 30th October 2013.

On 9th October 2013 the battalion reported to the 58 Division training school at Kanagarayankulam to undergo training. Training terminated on 15th November 2013.

On 16th November 2013 all the companies of the 7 SLSR reported to Karualapuliyankulam camp to assist in constructing a permanent 'home' camp for the Battalion after being moved from place to place since the Battalion was first formed.
