7th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment

On 12th September 2007 the Battalion placed under command to the 57 Division was deployed as part of the Wanni 'Humanitarian Operation' and actively contributed to the freeing of Piramanayankulam, Periyathampane, Thampane, Parayanakulam, Periyapandirichchan, Madu, Kirisuddan, Mullikulam, Periyamadu North, Vavunikulam, Mallavi, Mankulam areas from the control of the LTTE.

On 14th December 2007, Lieutenant Colonel K Liyanage took over command of the Battalion.

On 31st December 2008 the Battalion was placed under command to the 58 Division at Parantan continued to be part of the operations launched to free Pooneryn, Parantan, Dharmapuram, Pudukudirippu and Vellamullivaikkal from enemy activity.

Taking part in the 'Humanitarian Operation' the troops of the Battalion were able to inflict a great deal of damage to the LTTE by killing many of LTTE cadres and capturing or destroying large quantities of munitions.

Also, during the 'Humanitarian Operation' the Battalion lost (killed) 6 officers & 155 other rankers while a total of 843 officers and other rankers were wounded. 4 other rankers were also reported as missing in action.

The Battalion was stationed in Iranamadu, Kilinochchi on completion of the operation.

On 7th September 2009, Major HDK Heiyanthuduwa RWP RSP took over the command of the Battalion.
