AWARENESS LECTURE FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL ON ILLEGAL PYRAMID INVESTMENT

An awareness lecture on illegal pyramid investment schemes was conducted at the Army Headquarters on 24 July 2025, under the directives of the Commander of the Army and the close supervision of the Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army. The event was organized by the Directorate of Provost, with the assistance of the Directorate of Training.

The session was facilitated by a delegation from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, comprising Mrs. Ajani Liyanapatabendi (Director - Financial Consumer Relations Department), Mr. Chathura Ariyadasa (Director Regional Development Department), Mr. Yamithra Ranaweera (Deputy Director - Financial Consumer Relations Department), and Mr. Gimhan Mohotti (Senior Assistant Director Payments and Settlements Department). The lecture was conducted from 0900 hrs to 1230 hrs, delivering an in-depth analysis of pyramid investment operations, their mechanisms, and the detrimental impact these schemes have on individuals and the broader society.

A total of 382 Officers were present at the venue, representing all Sri Lanka Army establishments, including 1 Corps, Security Forces Headquarters, respective under-command Divisions and Brigades, all Regimental Headquarters, and Army/Regimental Training Schools. Furthermore, 1,391 Officers and 20,482 Other Ranks participated virtually from the aforementioned establishments across the island.

Combined physical and virtual participation resulted in a total attendance exceeding 1,773 Officers and 20,482 Other Ranks, reflecting the Army's continued commitment to financial awareness and safeguarding its personnel from fraudulent schemes.
