NEWLY ASPHALTED BASKETBALL COURT CEREMONIALLY OPEN AT RHQ-SLCMP

The Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) marked a significant step in enhancing recreational facilities for its personnel with the opening of a newly asphalted basketball court at its Regimental Headquarters on 1 July 2025.

The court was declared open with a lively exhibition match between the SLCMP Basketball Team and the Colombo Panthers, delighting the gathered crowd.

The event was graced by Major General U L J S Perera RSP USP nps psc, Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the SLCMP, whose steadfast commitment to the Regiment was instrumental in bringing the renovation to realization. This meaningful transformation was realized through his visionary leadership and direct involvement, reflecting his unwavering dedication to the betterment of the Regiment.

Also present were Brigadier A M R Abeysinghe ndc, Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army; Brigadier M M M P Mahesh Kumara, Centre Commandant of the SLCMP; council members; senior officers; officers and other ranks.

The new court reflects the SLCMP’s continued commitment to promoting sports and well-being among its members.
