THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION UNIT CELEBRATED THE 27 ANNIVERSARY

As per the conceptual thoughts of then Commander of the Army, the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) and the Sri Lanka Army (SL Army) opened a new portal with the establishment of specialized, skilled, dedicated unit by the name of "Special Investigation Unit" (SIU) which was established on 6^th June 1997.

Ever since then up to day, the SIU has been performing a pivotal role in SL Army over 27 years by means of high profile investigations, detections, surveillances, intelligence gatherings and liaison with the government expert analysis in order to ensure the maintaining high standards of discipline in the SL Army. High skilled qualified and specialized four Officers and 31 Other Ranks were the initial members of its inauguration.

Accordingly, the SIU celebrated its 27^th Anniversary under the patronage of incumbent Commanding Officer, Colonel M M M P Mahesh Kumara. The series of events that include religious, ceremonial and entertainment activities were held as:

• The bodhi pooja and dhamma preaching held on 04^th June 2024 at the camp premises to shower the blessings and to gain religious faith.
• The ceremonial guard turnout, the parade accorded to the Commanding Officer by the troops of SIU, group photograph, troops address and All Ranks tea were held on 06th June 2024.

During the troops address, the Commanding Officer recollected the memories of 27 years long journey, appreciated the former Commanding Officers and all troops who contributed to uplift the standard of SIU. Finally, All Ranks' get-together was held at the camp premises in the evening to build the coherence and to break the monotones of the troops.

The Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army together with All Ranks extended the best wishes to the Commanding Officer and All Ranks of SIU for their future endeavors.
