THE PROVOST MARSHAL OF SRI LANKA ARMY AND THE COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE MADE THE FINAL OFFICIAL VISITS TO UNDER COMMAND UNITS AND TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT

The Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army (SL Army) and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc made the final official visits to 2, 3, 4, 7 SLCMP, OC TPS (MLT) and School of Military Police prior to his retirement.

Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, The Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP has enlisted to SL Army as a Second Lieutenant on 20 January 1989. Thus far the senior Officer completed 35 Years and 4 Months of extended service to the regiment, SL Army and to the nation. While standing on the eve of retirement, the senior Officer undertook courtesy visit to under command units to pay gratitude to all Officers and Other Ranks of SLCMP.

The initial official visit was held at 7 SLCMP where the senior Officer was welcomed by the overlooking Commanding Officer, Major K N A Karunanayake with a traditional guard turnout. Afterwards the days sequence of events commenced with the group photograph, troops address followed by the opening of a newly constructed lecture hall and accommodation complex for Other Ranks.

Subsequently, the senior Officer visited the School of Military Police, Giritale. During the visit, the retiring senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Commandant School of Military Police, Colonel D D D Seresainghe USP at the doorstep of the training establishment and the Senior Officer was greeted with a colorful Guard Turnout. The newly constructed model room complex was then declared open to the usage of the provost training.

Following the event, Provost Marshal and the Colonel Commandant visited the 2 SLCMP. Upon invitation of the Commanding Officer, Maj K N Indarjith USP Lsc, the Provost Marshal unveiled a statue of ancient king “King Agbo II” who ruled the Polinnaruwa Kingdom in 608 AD. The statue gives an inheritance value as the 2 SLCMP as it located close proximity to "Girithale Tank" which was erected by the King Agbo 11.

Later on, the senior Officer ceremonially declared opened a new water purification plant with a Reverse Osmosis Technology which helps to enhance the quality of drinking water of 2 SLCMP. Further, the newly constructed accommodation complex for Other Ranks of 2 SLCMP was declared opened by the senior Officer. The day’s program was culminated with the troops address for the Officers and other Ranks of the 2SLCMP and the School of Military Police.

Subsequently, the Provost Marshal and Colonel Commandant made next courtesy visit to the 3 SLCMP. On arrival, the senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 3 SLCMP, Lieutenant Colonel M D S U K Weerasinghe USP psc and troops greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the Camp premises. The Colonel Commandant posted for a group photograph and addressed the troops on the camp premises. Finally, the Colonel Commandant left few compliments in visitors’ book of the unit.

Same day evening, The Provost Marshal and the Colonel Commandant visited the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Officer Commanding Troops - Mullaitivu marking a significant milestone prior to his retirement. During the visit, the senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officer 1 of SLCMP OC TPS (MLT), Lieutenant Colonel K D N Karunarathna USP, with a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the camp premises. The day's events commenced with a commemorative group photograph to memorialize the occasion. Subsequently, the proceedings unfolded with the troop address.

As the last visit of the first visiting schedule, the senior Officer made a courtesy visit to 4 SLCMP. Upon his arrival the senior Officer was given a warm reception by the Over Looking Second in Command, Major E M LB Herath and a traditional guard turnout was presented to the senior Officer at the doorstep of the camp premises. Afterwards the day's sequence of event commenced with the planting of a sapling followed by group photograph and the troops address. The day's proceedings were terminated with the signing of the visitor book to mark the official visit by the Senior Officer.
