The Sri Lanka Army Handball (Men) team secured the championship by beating Sri Lanka Navy Handball team during the National Handball Championship - 2023, held at Puttalam Public ground from 11 August to 14 August 2023.
Total number of 21 island-wide handball (Men) teams competed under four categories in this tournament and the final tussle got underway between Army and Navy teams on 14 August 2023.
The exceptional provost handball player S/680129 Corporal Wimalarathna D G R - 5 SLCMP who represented the Army Handball team was awarded the trophy as the best player of the tournament.
To appreciate this outstanding performance, the Provost handball player, Corporal Wimalarathna D G R was called on by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc and extended his best wishes for this outstanding achievement on 11 December 2023 at Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police.
