The Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police launched the annual book donation programme for 150 school children of serving civil workers of SLCMP. The event was held on 02 December 2023 at the Regimental Headquarters SLCMP and Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa , the President of SVB - SLCMP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, more than 2100 books (worth approximately Rs. 310,000) were distributed to the children of Grade 1 to 13. Total 15 number of children were symbolically received the book packs which included required books for the School year - 2024.
The days programme began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp followed by the Puja Dance , recital of Seva Vanitha Song and observance of a two-minute silence in memory of fallen war heroes. The importance of day's event and the objective were elaborated to the audience by the presenter on behalf of the Seva Vanitha Branch.
During the programme, all children were entertained with few entertainment events, which has been specially arranged for them. Prior to termination, the president of SVB - SLCMP, Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa addressed the gathering and highlighted previous community service activities organized for the wellbeing of all Ranks of SLCMP by the Seva Vanitha Branch and updated the audience regarding the future events.
Members of the Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and Civil workers were also associated with the occasion.
