Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police together with 2nd Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police showing its compassion towards the well - being of one of the former SLCMP Soldier's family - Corporal Abeyrathna GMRS (Late), built a new house in Anguruwella area was handed over to the deserving widow, Mrs Dilani Priyashanthi Abeyrathna, a mother of two children who had been living without a proper shelter during a simple ceremony on 08 September (Morning) 2023.
This opening ceremony of new build house was graced by the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc as the Chief Guest.
S/678978 Corporal Abeyrathna GMRS (Late) belonged to 2nd Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, was passed away on 07 May 2020 due to a road accident while he was serving in 2 SLCMP. This deserving Non Commissioned Officer has blessed with two children aged 7 years (Son) and 3 years (Daughter).
With the blessing of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, this house construction project was concluded under the directions of the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc for the benefit of SLCMP soldier due to the predicament situation of his family. This altruism housing project was contained with 2 Bedrooms, a dinning room, a kitchen and a Bathroom. The preliminary financial donation to construct this house was provided by Mrs Chamila Jayathilaka and her husband Mr Sonders Jayathilaka who are presently living in Canada and several other donors also have contributed for this welfare project.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of Mrs Janaki Liyanage, the President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit together with Mrs Priyanthika De Zoysa, the President, Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police jointly contributed the required monetary assistance and essential household items to this single story residence. Further, all Military Police Commanding Officers including the Commandant School of Military Police also have contributed the project by proving various essentialities at the time of house constructing.
The manpower including engineering and technical skills for the construction of the new house was provided by the troops of 2 SLCMP together with the troops of Engineer Service Regiment under the directions of the previous Commanding Officers of 2nd Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Lt Col R Withanaarachchi USP Lsc, Lt Col NPEN Nerangama USP Lsc and present Commanding Officer of 2 nd Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Major K N Indrajith USP Lsc.
Members of SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch, Council Members, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated to the event.
