64TH ANNIVERSARY OF 1ST SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE
1. 1st Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, the pompous adult of the provost family by having a prestigious and golden history which was established with the inauguration of Sri Lanka Army with one officer and ten ORs on 30th of October 1949 with the motto of “Lead by exampleâ€, celebrated its 64th anniversary on 30 October 2013.
2. The Buddhist religious activities were held at Sariputhrarama temple Narahenpita under the patronage of the commanding officer 1 SLCMP, concurruntly the 64th anniversary celebration in view of blessing to the members of Provost family as well as rejoicing merits to the Provost members who have dedicated their lives during the past war period. Then there was a guard turn out and parade to the commanding officer on 1st November 2013. There after all Officers and Ncos were addressed by the commanding officer.
3. An all ranks lunch and a musical evening were held under the patronage of Colonel Commandant on 22nd of November 2013 as the final event of the anniversary celebration with the participation of popular singers such as Edward Jayakody, Charitha Priyadarshani, Nadun Dasanayake, Ranjani Perera, Suppriya, Athula Sri Gamage and Jayantha Rathnayake.
