In a dazzling celebration, words and imagination of an anecdote “Yuga Yuga” commenced the legendry journey among bibliophiles. The eagerly anticipated moment of the author, Colonel D D D Serasinghe USP the Commandant of School of Military Police has come to a reality with the unfolded celebration of literary achievement on 09.02.2024. The auditorium of the Mass Media Center sparkled with pleasure of authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts who gathered to witness the unveiling of a masterpiece. General G D H Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, the Secretary, Ministry of Defence graced the pinnacle ceremony as the honorable Chief Guest.
Upon the arrival, the Chief Guests was warmly welcomed by the Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc. Thereafter, traditional oil lamp was flamed by the Chief Guest, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Provost Marshal and the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP, Center Commandant and the Commandant of School of MP.
Official releasing was marked with the submission of the book to the Chief Guest and to other dignitaries by the author. The day’s proceedings lined up with traditional welcome puja dance, Keynote address by the Senior Professor Attanayake M. Herath, Reviewing of the book by Lecturer Ajith Krishantha Seram, various traditional performing arts (Bird Demon, Devil Cobra, Angampora etc). While addressing the audience in an appreciative tone, the Chief Guest recalled the times during the war where the author was serving under his command. Further, honorable Chief Guest praised the author’s literary excellence and good conduct as well.
The “Yuga Yuga” is a frictional anecdote that denotes the bibliography of the ancient King Valagamba, also known as the Great Black Lion, of the Anuradhapura Kingdom. The volume “Yuga Yuga” revealed the use philosophical approach by the King on using universal and mind power that even can be applied to the current war fighting.
The grand evening drew to a close leaving a sense of fulfillment and anticipation while setting the stage for the book to embark on its own journey into the hands and hearts of readers.
