"UNITING FORCES THROUGH MARKSMANSHIP"

THE INTER-REGIMENT PRACTICAL RIFLE SHOOTING COMPETITION

In a display of precision, camaraderie, and unmatched skill, all regiments of the Sri Lanka Army recently converged for the Inter-Regiment Practical Rifle Shooting Competition 2024. The competition, hosted by the Army Small Arms Association (ASAA) held at the Diyatalawa "Fox Hill Field Firing Range" from 15 February to 20 February 2024.

The annual meet that expects to expand the field of rifle shooting to be on par with international standards was completed by 38 teams (22 x Open Teams and 16 x Novices Teams) representing 22 Regiments with 277 Shooters. 2 x Teams from SLCMP competed under the Open and Novices category and the open team secured the runners-up among Service regiments by showcasing the marksmen skills:

Senior Officers category navigated by the Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, the Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police secured the runners-up among the Brigadier to Major General Category with 325.827 points.

Colonel M M M P Mahesh Kumara, the Commanding Officer of the Special Investigation Unit and Lt Col K A K S Prasanna, the Staff Officer 1 of the Directorate of the Provost contested the Other senior officers category through a series of dynamic stages displaying the marksmanship skill and physical agility.

As prize awarding ceremony graced by Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu, the Director General Infantry was held on 26th February 2024 at Marksmanship and Sniper Training School - Diyatalawa. The victorious regiment celebrated their triumph with the awarding of testimonies from the Chief Guest.
