SLCMP COMPLETES CEREMONIAL DUTIES AT THE PRESIDENT’S HOUSE

The 5th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (5 SLCMP) successfully concluded its term of ceremonial guard duties at the President’s House, carried out from 01 July to 31 December 2025. The formal handover to the Sri Lanka Navy was held on 01 January 2026 in front of the President’s House.

Since 1978, the SLCMP has taken pride in performing this prestigious duty, reflecting the discipline and professionalism of the Sri Lanka Army. In line with tradition, the Navy also assumed responsibility for hoisting the National Flag at Galle Face Green from 31 December 2025.

The ceremonial duties were led by Lieutenant Colonel BGSM Bogahawela USP psc, Commanding Officer of 5 SLCMP, and conducted under the supervision of Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc, Military Secretary of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the SLCMP; Major General AMR Abeysinghe ndc, Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and Brigadier RMKAS Rajanayake, Centre Commandant of the SLCMP.
