SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE EXTENDS HONORS TO WOMEN MILITARY POLICE PERSONNEL ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

In observance of International Women's Day, the Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SVB - SLCMP) orchestrated a commemorative beneficiary program on 11 March 2024 under the supervision of Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa, President of SVB - SLCMP and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by three entertainment events by SL Army dancing team and a descriptive documentary was presented to the audience.

An integral feature of the event transpired through the distribution of benevolent contributions to 75 deserving Women Military Police soldiers and Women Civil Staff. During the programme, 15 dry ration packs were symbolically distributed among needy female soldiers including 2 Women Civil Staff by the President of the ASVU Mrs. Janaki Liyanage and the President of SVB - SLCMP Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa.

Dr. Mahendra Ekanayake, a distinguished consultant physician at District Hospital - Wethara and a certified trainer in the World Health Organization - South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO), delivered an excellent lecture on the theme, "Inspiring women for maintenance of good health with positive character."

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of ASVU, conveyed gratitude to Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa, acknowledging her pivotal role in the realization of this benevolent initiative. In a reciprocal gesture, Mrs. Priyanthika De Zoysa presented a memento to Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, symbolizing this historical event and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of ASVU penned down some thoughts in the Regimental Centre visitors' book.
