RE-DEPLOYMENT OF 5TH SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE

With the restructuring process of entire Sri Lanka Army, 5th Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police was instructed to redeploy at Regimental Headquarters on 30 November 2023 and placed under command to Dte of Pro in order to engage in ceremonial Military Police duties.

The 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police was established on 28th December 2009. So far 14 years of period, 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police provided provost support to 1 Corps, 57 Div and 66 Div in SFHQ (MLT) AOR under 6 Commanding Officers.

With the restructuring plan of Sri Lanka Army, 5th Regimant Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police shifted to Polhengoda Regimental Headquarters premises after completing the move plan.

The inauguration ceremony of redeploy of the unit was taken place on 1st December with the guidance of the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Maj Gen ACA De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc.

The inauguration Ceremony giving priority to religious observances with chanting of Pirith. The Over Looking Commanding Officer 5th Regiment Sri Lanka corps of Military Police Major D G I P Gombarage USP psc Lsc commenced duties at new location at RHQ-SLCMP premises by hoisting unit flag in front of all Officers and Other rankers. Subsequently a photograph was taken in the Regimental Headquarters premises and later the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Col Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of military Police Maj Gen ACA De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc attended to deliver the redeployment inaugurated speech for all troops in the Unit. The Centre Commandant including senior Officers of the RHQ/SIU and 1 SLCMP have attended for the troops address.

Subsequently days proceedings were culminated with All Rank tea party and finally symbolically signed the visitor’s book.
