MILITARY POLICE VETERANS ASSOCIATION CELEBRATED ITS 34 TH ANNIVERSARY

The Military Police Veterans Association was established on 31 October 1989 to facilitate the all welfare activities of Ex Provost members who have rendered their valuable service to the betterment of SLCMP. Major General S I S Dasanayake USP was the pioneer pillar who conceptually inaugurated this organization.

On 18 th October 2023, the veterans association celebrated the 34 th anniversary at Hotel Nature Garden Yakkala. The days Proceedings included the Annual General Meeting, Rappel Draw, Scholarship donation programme followed by an interaction session.

More than 250 retired provost members including Senior Officers attended to this programme. Representing the active service members, The Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police together with the Centre Commandant, Senior Council members, Commandant of School of Military Police and Commanding Officers of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police attended to the event.

The Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc in an appreciative tone addressed the gathering. In that, dignifying the names of senior veterans who hold the key appointments of SL Army, Present significant achievements by the active service members and the present development progress of SLCMP were deliberately elaborated.

Under the concept of the the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, for the first time of the history "a Help Desk " which was headed by the representatives of the relevant branches of RHQ SLCMP was established with the view of providing assistance for them to clear the pending administrative matters as well as to make them aware on the latest policies of SL Army in pursuant to them.

Further, Rs 100,000 worth of cheque and the Handbook containing details instructions relevant to the veterans were handed over to the president of the Military Police Veterans Association , Major H M R P Gonawala USP by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc for their future activities.

The event was successfully terminated by building ever-lasting bridges and coherence of Provost family as a whole.
