MILITARY POLICE COLOURS NIGHT AWARDS 210 ACHIEVERS OF PROVOST FAMILY IN SPORTS

Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), one of the most admired service Regiment of the SL Army which was raised 73 years ago in 1949 has evolved to become a fully-fledged Regiment consisting of Regimental Centre, Seven Units, Special Investigation Unit and School of Military Police. Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police has performed an exceptionally well in all spheres producing qualified Officers & soldiers to maintain the discipline of SL Army for last 7 decades. SLCMP traditionally values discipline, professionalism, loyalty and duty as its guiding principles and the sports have been its forte since inception. This regiment has produced a significant number of sportsmen and women to the nation who reached to the national as well as the international level achievements.

The third glamorous 'Military Police Colours' awarding ceremony-2023 was held on Friday evening 01 September 2023 at the Auditorium, Ministry of Mass Media, amid a gathering of distinguished invitees, headed by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc. The glorious Military Police Colours night was conceptualized by the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP while assisting of Centre Commandant, All Commanding Officers including the Commanding Officer Special Investigation Unit and the Commandant, School of Military Police

Upon his arrival, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army was accompanied by Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, together with reputed invitees including Major General W A S S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army, Major General C D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, the Deputy Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP , the Commadant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. Later, The lighting of the traditional oil lamp was lighted by the Chief Guest, a few other Senior Officers and Regimental Sergeant Major while representing the all Other Ranks of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and the recital of the regimental song.

At first, Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police made the welcome remarks and explained the objective of the day's event. The dazzling event saw 37 SLCMP sportsmen and sportswomen symbolically awarded Colours from a selected group of 210 SLCMP personnel representing 22 sports events who had made outstanding achievements and brought admiration to the SLCMP, Sri Lanka Army and the country at large during the years 2012 -2023 at inter-regiment, defence services, national and international level with the aim of encouraging all ranks to improve their sporting talents further in order to reach greater heights for both national and international level standard. The glamorous evening reached its apex as SLCMP personnel who have excelled exceptionally well in sports crowning the motherland in glory at national and international levels were called out to the stage to receive their accolades from the day's Chief Guest.

The Commander of the Army symbolic awarded the trophies to the six most outstanding performers and achievers of the Military Police Regiment whose records were the most admired during 2012-2023 including the Provost Marshal and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc and Warrant Officer 11 Dulan KAS - 5 SLCMP who won the Bronze Medal in Javelin Throw F44 Category during the Para Athletic World Championship -2023 at France. After awarding Colours to Colour recipients, the Army Chief addressed to the gathering and it was highlighted the Provost contribution to SL Army and he congratulated them for their resounding gains, appreciated them and encourage them who brought honour and fame to the Regiment, Sri Lanka Army and our motherland as a whole representing at various sports competitions. The commander of the Army in a symbolic gesture of stimulation and encouragement afterwards gifted a cash incentive of Rs 1 million towards further development of sports and athletic skills of SLCMP personnel. The SLCMP Colonel Commandant thankfully received the stimulant from the Army Chief.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage was presented a special memento in appreciation of his presence as the Chief Guest for the Military Police Colours Night - 2023 by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc .Towards the end, Brigadier H M S I Senarath, the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police delivered the vote of thank and marked the culmination of the Military Police Colours Awarding Ceremony - 2023.

Simultaneously, The Second phase of the 'Military Police Colours' awarding ceremony - 2023 was held on Monday evening 04 September 2023 at the Corporals' Club - RHQ SLCMP, headed by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A DE Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc. The glorious Military Police Colours night was conceptualized by the Colonel Commandant of SLCMP while assisting of Centre Commandant, All Commanding Officers including the Commanding Officer Special Investigation Unit and the Commandant School of Military Police.

During the Colours awarding ceremony, 173 sportsmen & Women of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police were awarded 'Colours' by representing 22 sports event during the year 2012-2023 to appreciate the sports talents and skills at inter-regiment, defence services, national and international level with the aim of encouraging all ranks to improve their sporting talents further in order to reach greater heights for both national and international level standard. Senior Officers, Regimental Council Members Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the thrilling and glamorous evening.
