As per the direction given by the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc and under the close supervision of Directorate of Provost, the one day workshop on fingerprinting was organized with the collaboration of Fingerprinting Bureau and Sri Lanka Police on 21 November 2023. The core objective of the workshop is to widen the knowledge of the Non Commissioned Officers of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police regarding the fingerprints and related subject areas.
The beginning of the workshop was marked with the opening address by the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc and the Senior Officer emphasized the value of the knowledge in this field as Provost members to carry out police duties in high standard.
Total number of 66 Non commissioned Officers who perform island wide provost duties participated to the session and the workshop content included the following subjects’ areas with advanced theoretical and the practical aspects which will be beneficial to carry out the required task within the battalion:
a. The history of fingerprints.
b. Analyze, compare, evaluate and verify fingerprint identifications.
c. Fingerprint Identification and Classification.
d. Practical aspects of fingerprinting.
e. The principles of classifying, searching, and comparing specific types of fingerprints.
The Termination ceremony was held on 21 November 2023 (evening) where the participants received the certificates as a testimony of completions the one day workshop. the Colonel Provost of Directorate of Provost Col EMI Ekanayaka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Senior Officers, Officers and Students of the workshop participated to the closing address and the certificate awarding ceremony.
