The Corps of Military Police solemnly commemorated its fallen War Heroes at the Corps of Military Police War Memorial in Giritale on 09 May 2026, in conjunction with the 36th Anniversary of the Corps. The event was organized to honour and remember the brave members of the Corps of Military Police who made the supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation. A total of 7 x 48 War Heroes of the Corps of Military Police sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Family members representing 15 families, including 29 relatives of the fallen heroes, participated in the ceremony and paid heartfelt tribute to their loved ones. Religious observances, floral tributes, and commemorative proceedings were conducted in a dignified manner at the War Memorial, reflecting the gratitude and respect of the Sri Lanka Army towards its fallen War Heroes. The proceedings were concluded with providing refreshments for the family members of fallen war heroes who had the opportunity to share their thoughts with the Colonel Commandants. The event was graced by the Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Military Police, Major General B G S Fernando USP Hdmc psc. Senior Officers including Commander Logistics Command of Sri Lanka Army, Major General A M R Abeysinghe ndc, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Corps of Military Police also attended the occasion, demonstrating unity and remembrance in honour of their fallen comrades.
