ARMY CHIEF VISITED THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu paid his maiden visit to the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police on Friday morning (01) September 2023. A Guard Turnout salute in accordance with military traditions, presented by SLCMP Regimental troops honoured the day’s Chief Guest on arrival at the entrance to the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police before he was warmly welcomed by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc. After the army chief accorded a Guard of honour in General Scarlet at the Parade ground of Regimental Centre.

Commencing the day’s agenda, the Commander of the Army posed for a few group photographs with SLCMP troops before he was invited to unveil a statue of Napoleon Bonaparte, a former Emperor of France which was crafted by SLCMP soldiers, erected in front of the parade square as a tribute to his memory. The iconic Emperor revolutionized the military organization and training and left a lasting mark on the institutions of France and of much of western Europe.

Adding memories to the day, he was invited to plant a sapling in the Special Location in the Camp premises. Later, he was invited to lay the cornerstone for construction of a new two-storied accommodation building and a new dining hall for the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants’ Mess in the Regimental HQ.

Later on, The Commander of the Army addressed all Officers and Other Ranks under command to Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police where he underlined the importance of maintaining the dignity of the profession and their discipline during difficult times and appreciated the troops for performing their duties effectively and efficiently to save the motherland. Further, he urged them to continue their exceptional role during these tough times and work as a spirited team for the betterment of the organization.

Towards the culmination of the address, by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General A C A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc presented an appreciative memento to the Commander of the Army by appreciating his maiden Visit to the regimental Centre. The gesture was reciprocated by the Commander of the Army and He took time off to interact with the troops during an All Rank tea arrangement. Before his exit, the Commander of the Army penned down some thoughts in the Regimental Centre visitors' book .The Colonel Commandant of SLCMP , Regimental Council Members ,several Senior Officers ,Officers, Other Ranks of SLCMP were also associated with the occasion.
