7TH REGIMENT SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE IN COLLABORATION WITH SLCMP SEVA VANITHA BRANCH BUILDS AND DONATES NEW HOUSE TO DESERVING FAMILY IN HAPUTALE

Demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility and commitment to community welfare, the 7th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, in collaboration with the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch, successfully constructed and donated a newly built house to a deserving low-income civilian family in Haputale on 25 June 2025.

The beneficiary of this initiative is a father of the family who became permanently bedridden following a sudden accident, leaving his family in severe financial and emotional distress. This noble gesture by the 7th Regiment of the SLCMP and the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch has provided much-needed relief and renewed hope for the affected family. Furthermore, members of the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch generously donated essential household items, including furniture and other amenities, ensuring the family could begin their new chapter in comfort and dignity.

This heartfelt effort was carried out with the blessings of Mrs. Iresha Perera, President of the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch and the Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the SLCMP, Major General U L J S Perera RSP USP nps psc.

The ceremonial handover was graced by Major General R D Sallay ndc, Commander, Logistics Command SFHQ (Central); Brigadier M M M P Mahesh Kumara, Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police; senior officers; officers; other ranks; and members of the SLCMP Seva Vanitha Branch.

Adding further significance to the occasion, several distinguished civil dignitaries also attended the event, including Mrs. M D Gayani K. Ranathunga, Divisional Secretary of the Haputale Divisional Secretariat; Mr. H M G Ariyasinghe, Manager of the Samurdhi Bank Society, Haputale; and Mr. M H Hiran, Estate Superintendent of Kahagalla Estate.

The construction work was diligently undertaken by the troops of 7 SLCMP under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel B L S K Balasooriya Lsc, Commanding Officer of 7th Regiment of SLCMP, as part of a Community Relations Programme aimed at uplifting the lives of those in need.
