1ST REGIMENT SRI LANKA CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE MARKS 76TH ANNIVERSARY

The 1^st Regiment Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police commemorated its 76^th Anniversary with a series of dignified, spiritual, and camaraderie-building events conducted throughout the months of October and November 2025.

The commemorations commenced on 30^th October 2025 with a Bodhi Pooja held at Sri Sariputhra Viharaya, Narahenpita, conducted under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Lt Col DGIP Gombarage USP psc Lsc. The religious observance invoked blessings upon the Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, the Sri Lanka Army, and the nation while paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of fallen War Heroes.

As part of the itinerary, an Inter-Company Cricket Tournament was held on 1^st November 2025 at the Sri Lanka Engineers Grounds. The Provost Company, SFHQ (West), emerged as champions, with the “Q” Stores team securing the runners-up position. Maj GM Rajapaksha was adjudged Man of the Match in recognition of his outstanding performance.

A ceremonial Battalion Parade held on 4^th November 2025 showcased the Regiment’s expertise in drill and its steadfast devotion to military traditions. In line with the programme, ten civil staff members were presented with tokens of appreciation in recognition of their dedicated service followed by an All-Ranks Lunch held to enhance camaraderie and esprit de corps within the Regiment.

The anniversary celebrations concluded with an All-Ranks Get-Together held at Sappers Leisure Bay on 16^th November 2025, followed by the Officers’ Gathering on 21^st November 2025 under the theme “Legacy of Honour.” These events reinforced regimental pride, unity, and the enduring commitment to professional excellence of the 1^st Regiment, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police.
