Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu after assuming duties as the 12th Commander, Security Forces (West), made his formal field visit to 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and its under command battalions on 26 January 2022.
The Commander, Security Forces (West) was warmly welcomed to the 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters by the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, Colonel T M F Kichilan RWP RSP, Commanding Officers of the Battalions under the 143 Infantry Brigade, and staff officers of the 143 Infantry Brigade. Then, a few minutes later, they have attended a comprehensive briefing that described the respective AOR by the Commanding Officers of under command battalions and staff officers of the 143 Infantry Brigade. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) was invited to plant a sapling in front of the office complex to mark his visit. Furthermore, he did not forget to pen a complimentary remark in the ‘Visitors book’ before departure from the 143 Infantry Brigade premises.
As per the day’s itinerary, the Commander has visited the 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment located in Thabbowa was received by Maj S A A H Subasinghe RSP psc Lsc, Second in Command of the 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment, on arrival at the Battalion Headquarters. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed the troops of the battalion, and then he participated for an all rank tea.
Finally, marking the end of the day's visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard deployed at Wariyapola and the Commanding Officer of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard, Lt Col K A D P V Kumarasinghe, welcomed him with a drive pass at the entrance. Then the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed the troops of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard and, before departing from the camp premises, he has signed the ‘Visitors book’ to mark his visit.
During the day's visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) took time off to inspect camps premises. Thereby he shared a few thoughts with all ranks and also appreciated the commitment of troops who rendered their potential service in this present scenario and directed respective officers to render their invaluable service in the future too.
General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division Major General A K G K U Gnanarathne ndu psc, Col GS Security Forces Headquarters (West) Col M B L Perera RSP USP psc, CCCA SFHQ (West) Col S M S Samarakoon, several senior officers of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and 14 Infantry Division accompanied the Commander during the visit.
