On a request made by the Divisional Secretariat – Monaragala from the Commander of the Army, a programme to enhance the leadership, personality and attitudes of the children was conducted for 60 children, who are representing children’s society formed by Department of Probation and Child Care Services in Monaragala District in parallel with World Children's Day - 2016 with the consent of the Commander of the Army and on the directions of Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu Commander Security Forces (Central) on 31 October and on 01 November 2016 at the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS).

An awareness programme, poised to impart knowledge on new innovations and highlight the importance of encouraging innovative creations and research took place at the Security Force Headquarters (Central) on 03 November 2016 on the guidelines of Major General PUS Vithanage RSP ndu, Commander, Security Forces (Central) at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS), Diyatalawa.
