The United Nations Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial was held in Vancouver Canada from 14-15 November 2017. Building on the successes of previous events held in New York and London in the last three consecutive years, the 2017 UN Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial reviewed current contributions by UN members and most importantly secured specific pledges to meet the current and future needs of UN peacekeeping operations.

The Sri Lankan delegation headed by Mr KapilaWaidyarathne, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the members were attended the Ministerial Meeting was Mr R M S Sarath Kumara Additional Secretary (Defence Section) ,Maj Gen (rtd) N J Walgama RSP VSV USP ndu psc Military Adviser to the SriLanka Permanent representative to the UN, Maj Gen D A R Ranawaka RSP ndu IG MLO at the MOD ,Brig PI Pathiratne Commandant of IPSOTSL (Representative of the SL Army) Gp Capt SPVK Senadeera (Representative of the SLAF).
