  UNITED NATIONS MILITARY OBSERVER COURSE NUMBER 02 (GPOI) 2023
 

United Nations Military Observer Course Number - UNMOC (GPOI) 02- 2023 was commenced on 06 November 2023 at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) and concluded on 24 November 2024. This comprehensive training capsule was undertaken in collaboration with the United Nations and Global Peace Operations Initiatives (GPOI) organization. The course consisted with 30 student officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and the Police.

IPSOTSL has mainly focused on the prime responsibilities which a United Nations Military Observer has to perform and formulated the course curriculum according to the guidelines provided by the United Nations Department of Peace Operations (DPO). Upon completion of the UNMOC, participants were competent in the knowledge, skills, and attributes of effective United Nations Military Observers. The lecture panel was consisted with 02 foreign officer Instructors from the GPOI Organization, Lt Col Raju Maharjan and Maj Durba Karki - from the Nepal Army, and In-house instructor, Lieutenant Colonel P W Karunarathne RSP USP GW to facilitate and educate student officers on the Military Observer duties with real ground experience.

The opening and closing remarks were delivered by the Brigadier C A Rajapaksha RSP, The Commandant - IPSOTSL. During the opening remarks, the Commandant highlighted the importance of Military Observers as United Nations Peacekeeping Personnel to ensure the World Peace.
