Major General P P A Perera Hdmc psc the Director General, Directorate of Overseas Operations made a familiarization visit to IPSOTSL on 24 April 2023 to inquire about the training capsules and the well-being of the troops with the invitation of Brigadier C A Rajapaksha RSP the Commandant IPSOTSL.


The senior officer was saluted with a drive pass by the troops on arrival at the main entrance and warmly welcomed by the commandant IPSOTSL. Afterwards, the Director General was invited to plant a sapling in the compound to symbolize the visit before he started to inspect the camp location. At the meantime the distinguished chief guest conducted the opening address of South Sudan Level II Hospital Component Pre-deployment Training Course (UNMISS) Stage – 10, which was commenced on the same day.


Many important themes were highlighted during the opening address such as, the duties and responsibilities which belong to the contingent members according to the mandate and the significance of maintaining good conduct and preserving of unity among each other. Moreover, he admired the praiseworthiness of providing unblemished service to the United Nations to accomplish its targeted goals.
