  INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS BASIC COURSE – NO 32
 

The International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Basic Course was commenced on 09 January 2023 at IPSOTSL under the direction and guidance of Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

The course consisted with 47 x officers from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, and the Sri Lanka Air Force. The main aim of the course was to enhance the knowledge of junior level officers regarding the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

The world has become a global village and values such as the upholding of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law are shared globally. Human Rights education promotes values, beliefs and attitudes that encourage all individuals to uphold their own rights and those of others. As military personals it is much more important to be familiar with the International humanitarian Law. It also develops an understanding of everyone’s common responsibility to make Human Rights and International humanitarian Law a reality in each community.
