The International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Basic Course was commenced on 15 August 2022 and successfully concluded on 01 September 2022 at IPSOTSL under the direction and guidance of Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

The course consisted of twenty officers including fifteen officers from the Sri Lanka Army, three officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, one officer from the Sri Lanka Air Force and 46 Other Ranks from tri services and Police.

The aim of the course was to enhance the knowledge of junior level officers and NCOs regarding the Humanitarian Law, its implications and basic knowledge on Human Rights. The importance in protection of life, health and dignity is highly discussed in the course and how the law is impact on the day to day life.

The closing address was conducted by Brigadier KAN Rasika Kumara psc, the Director of Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
