Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course (CPOC) - 2022 was conducted on 10 - 14 October 2022 at IPSOTSL with the collaboration of United Nations, Global Peace Operations Initiative and US Embassy. The course consisted with 31 Student Officers of the Sri Lanka Army 02 officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force 01 Officer from Nepal.

The lecturer panel was consisted with 02 Subject Matter Experts representing the GPOI organization, Col Gonzalo Mila (Rtd) from Uruguay, Mr Jens Anderson from Denmark and other 04 in-house instructors, Col B D T D Jayarathne psc, Lt Col M L N U Liyanage RSP SLAC, Lt Col M S R Mohamed Lsc SLEME, Maj K H D Mendis SLAGSC to facilitate and educate student officers on the Protection of Civilians.

GPOI is a U.S. Government-funded security assistance programme intended to enhance international capacity to effectively conduct United Nations and regional Peace Support Operations (PSOs) by building friendly foreign nations’ capabilities, capacities to train and sustain peacekeeping proficiencies.

The aim of this training package was to groom and equipped officers of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and other Foreign Nations before to be employed as UN Contingent members, UN Staff officers and UN military observers in the future employments. Further, it highlighted the importance of protecting Civilians as UN Peacekeeping personals to ensure the world peace.

The closing remark was conducted by the day’s Chief Guest, Brigadier C A Rajapaksha RSP the Commandant of Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka.
