  COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION OF CIVILIANS COURSE (CPOC) - 2022
 

Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course (CPOC) - 2022 was commenced on 10 October 2022 at IPSOTSL with the collaboration of United Nations, Global Peace Operations Initiative and US Embassy. The course consisted of 31 Student Officers of the Sri Lanka Army 02 officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force 01 Officer from Nepal. The lecturer panel was consisted with 02 Subject Matter Experts representing the GPOI organization, Col Gonzalo Mila (Rtd) from Uruguay, Mr Jens Anderson from Denmark and other 04 in-house instructors to facilitate and educate student officers on the protection of civilians along with the participation of the local in-house instructors.

GPOI is a U.S. Government-funded security assistance program intended to enhance international capacity to effectively conduct United Nations and regional Peace Support Operations (PSOs) by building friendly foreign nations’ capabilities to train and sustain peacekeeping proficiencies.

The aim of this training package was to groom officers of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and other Foreign Nations to be employed as UN Contingent members, UN Staff officers and Military observers in the future employments. Further it highlighted the importance of protecting Civilians as UN Peacekeeping personals.
