The International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Basic Course conducted at Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) under the direction and guidance of the Directorate of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Dte of HR & HL) from 20 April 2022 to 11 May 2022 was successfully completed. The course consisted of twenty two officers including seventeen officers from the Sri Lanka Army, two officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, two officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force, one Inspector from the Special Task Force of the Sri Lanka Police and 49 Other Ranks from tri services and the Police.

The objective of the course was to enhance the knowledge of junior level officers and NCOs regarding the humanitarian law, its implications and basic knowledge on human rights. The importance in protection of life, wellbeing and dignity was highly discussed in the course and how law is impact on the day to day life. The Closing remark was delivered by the Brigadier KAN Rasika Kumara psc, the Director of Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
