  BRIGADIER RADS SHANTHA RANAWEERA RWP RSP USP PSC, DIRECTOR OPERATIONS AND DIRECTOR OVERSEAS OPERATIONS VISITS IPSOTSL KUKULEGANGA.
 

Brigadier RADS Shantha Ranaweera RWP RSP USP psc, Director Operations and Director Overseas Operations made a formal visit to Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) on 21 March 2022 as part of his familiarization visits. On arrival at the IPSOTSL, the Director Operations and Director Overseas Operations was warmly welcomed by Brigadier CA Rajapaksha RSP, the Commandant, IPSOTSL. Afterwards he reached the camp premises and was honoured in a customary and colourful ceremonial Guard Turnout as he proceeded.

The Director Operations and Director Overseas Operations received best wishes from Lieutenant Colonel GH Amitha RWP RSP psc the Chief Instructor and flanked by the Officers of the staff of IPSOTSL.

A brief presentation on training, administrative, operational and logistics aspects and infrastructure development of the IPSOTSL, conducted by Brigadier Chinthaka Rajapaksha, Commandant provided him with an overall picture of its current operations and progress of the new projects to the former Commandant of IPSOTSL. It was highly discussed and made few important decisions which matters to obtain the UN recognition to this prestigious institute. The visiting Director Operations and Director Overseas Operations was also invited to plant a Mangifera Indica sapling in the premises to mark his visit to the venue.

During his address to the IPSOTSL troops, he emphasized the role of a military man and advised to maintain the personal discipline up to the expected standard. Further, the importance of performing assigned duties with dedication and commitment and upgrading of their professional skills through the continuous personal training as soldiers align with numerous peacekeeping assignments.

Afterwards, Brigadier Shantha Ranaweera joined for refreshments and in the meantime the guest officials met the Student Officers of United Nations Staff Officers Course – 04 and had a little conversation while enjoying the tea party. Then, he payed a visit around the camp to observe the progress of the camp premises before he sat for a lunch treat at the Officers’ Mess.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Institute and a few other Senior Staff Officers of the Directorate of Operations and Directorate of Overseas Operations also joined the day's itinerary and finally, Brigadier Shantha Ranaweera was invited to pen down on the commemorative book to mark his arrival to IPSOTSL.
