The Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) conducted a special programme to celebrate the 74th Sri Lanka Independence Day celebrations on 04 February 2022.

The programme commenced by hoisting the National flag by the Chief Instructor Lt Col G H Amitha RWP RSP psc SF. Next, the National song was sung filling all patriotic hearts with pride and vigor of being an independent nation. A two-minute silence was observed in commemoration of the fallen war heroes and remembering injured war heroes, retired war heroes, serving officers, all ranks and members of the civil staff who have sacrificed their lives for peace and security of the motherland.

And then read the special felicitation message issued by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, which conveyed the best wishes and warm greetings to every member in Sri Lanka. Thereafter, the Chief Instructor addressed all ranks in the parade and insisted on hard-earned peace, sacrifices made during the past battles to defend our mother land, army’s admirable contribution at present to the nation-building programmes and to protect long term peace and security.

In parallel to the 74th anniversary of Sri Lanka Independence Day a special tree plantation event was taken place at IPSOTSL. Officers and Other Ranks attended the day’s proceedings adhering to the health formalities.
