South Sudan Level II Hospital Component Pre-deployment Training Course (UNMISS) No – 9 and Sri Lanka Air Force Contingent Pre-deployment Training Course (MINUSCA) No – 7 was commenced on 22 March 202 and successfully completed on 05 May 2021. The Sri Lanka Army at the request of the UN, has established its first-ever SRIMED Level 2 Hospital in Bor, South Sudan, under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Establishing the hospital with ultra-modern facilities and medical equipment, all supplied and installed by the Sri Lanka Army, has been known as one of the fastest and well-planned projects.

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has deployed an Aviation Unit in Central Africa and it is tasked to carry out VIP transportation, transportation of food and equipment, domestic flying, para dropping and medical evacuation in the Central African Republic, in support of the overall UN mandate for that nation. In order to perform the duties and tasks effectively, it is essential to equip the peacekeepers with awareness and experiences on UN medical and aviation background.

The course has designed to provide the required knowledge on practical and theoretical aspects of United Nations. The main objective of this training capsule is to offer a brief awareness about the above said themes collateral with the UN mandate.

The closing remark was delivered by Brigadier KPSA Fernando RWP RSP ndu, the commandant of IPSOTSL.
