The Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) conducted a special programme to celebrate the 72nd Army Day Anniversary celebrations on 10 October 2021. The programme commenced by hoisting the Army flag by the Staff Officer II Major KVSS Vithanage psc SLLI, Afterwards, the Army song was sung and a two-minute silence was observed in commemoration of the fallen war heroes and remembering injured war heroes, retired war heroes, serving Officers, All Ranks and members of the civil staff who have sacrificed their lives for peace and security of the motherland.

And then read the special felicitation message issued by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, which conveyed the best wishes and warm greetings to every member in the Sri Lanka Army.

In parallel to the 72nd anniversary of Sri Lanka Army a special tree plantation event was taken place at IPSOTSL and the annual alms-giving in memory of Tri service, Police and Civil Security Department war heroes who laid their lives took place on Sunday (10) at Vivekaramaya temple in Kelinkanda. Officers and Other Ranks attended the day’s proceedings adhering to the health formalities.
