As part of its continued commitment to the well-being of military families, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Commando Regiment successfully organized a series of Pregnant Ladies’ Welfare Programmes across multiple Regimental deployments, including Regimental Headquarters – Ganemulla with 1 Commando Regiment and 4 Commando Regiment, Commando Regiment Training School (CRTS) – Uva Kudaoya, 2 Commando Regiment – Kilinochchi, and 3 Commando Regiment – Vavuniya.
The central programme was held on 27 July 2025 at the Maroon Legacy Hall, RHQ CR with 1 and 4 Commando Regiment – Ganemulla, under the patronage of Mrs. Samindie Wickramaratne, President, and other dedicated members of the Seva Vanitha Branch – Commando Regiment. The initiative was conducted with the blessings of Major General K H M S Wickramarathne RSP, Commander – 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment, Commando Regiment.
These events were organized to provide care and encouragement to expectant spouses of Commando soldiers, acknowledging their vital role in supporting the Regiment. Each mother received a maternity gift pack. The programme was extended across all Commando Regiment deployments with the active coordination and leadership of the following Seva Vanitha members:
a. Mrs. Nadeesha Edirisooriya, Spouse of the Commanding Officer, 1 Commando Regiment.
b. Mrs. Inoka Jeewika Senevirathna , Spouse of the Commanding Officer, 2 Commando Regiment.
c. Mrs. Minomi Kulathunga, Spouse of the Commanding Officer, 3 Commando Regiment.
d. Mrs. Priyanthi Sakunthala, Spouse of the Commanding Officer, 4 Commando Regiment.
e. Mrs. Sasala Hettiarachchi, Spouse of the Commanding Officer, Commando Regiment Training School (CRTS).
Their invaluable support and active involvement ensured the success of this welfare initiative across all Commando Regiments, reinforcing the strong sense of unity and compassion within the Commando Regiment family.
