SEWA VANITHA UNIT OF THE COMMANDO REGIMENT PROVIDES HEARTFELT CARE AT VILBERT PERERA MEMORIAL ELDERS CARE HOME

On 14 July 2024, the “Sewa Vanitha” unit of the Commando Regiment organized a deeply meaningful community care program at the Vilbert Perera Memorial Elders Care Home in Kaduwela. The event was a testament to compassion and service, touching the lives of 26 elderly residents with genuine care and support.

During the program, members of the Commando Regiment “Sewa Vanitha” unit engaged in various activities aimed at improving the living conditions of the elders. They undertook thorough cleaning both inside and outside the premises, changed bed sheets, cleaned them meticulously, provided haircuts and shaving services, and washed their clothes with care. Additionally, the elders received new mosquito nets and essential sanitary items, enhancing their comfort and well-being.

The highlight of the day was a special lunch arranged for all participants, followed by a serene bana preaching session, offering spiritual solace to the elderly residents. The presence and leadership of Mrs. Nimali Ranathunga, President of the Commando Regiment “Sewa Vanitha” unit, alongside members of the unit and esteemed guests including Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc and Center Commandant Commando Regiment Brigadier BMSKK Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP, added a dignified touch to the occasion.

Through their selfless efforts, the “Sewa Vanitha” unit demonstrated a profound commitment to serving the community and honoring our elders, embodying the values of compassion and respect. The event underscored the importance of collective responsibility in caring for those who once cared for us, leaving an indelible mark of kindness and solidarity.
