Sri Lanka Army Commandos, as a pioneering and qualified entity to conduct hostage rescue operations in Sri Lanka, conducted the hostage rescue basic course for 03 x 14 MNDF members at Ganemulla camp premises from 22 April 2024 to 31 May 2024. General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment Major General PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc grace the occasion as a chief guest of the graduation ceremony.
During this 40-day training package, MNDF’s underwent initial training aspects of the hostage rescue mission, such as physical training, weapon handling, live firing, tactical combat casualty care (TCCC), breaching and hostage rescue tactics, basic rappelling techniques and heli rappelling, close quarter combat techniques, vehicle ambush drills, etc.
The Defence Advisor to the High Commission of Maldives Col Hassan Amir, Center Commandant Commando Regiment Brig BMSKK Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP, Commander Commando Brigade Brigadier KVIL Jayaweera USP attended the occasion.
