Brigadier J M S G B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP retired from active service on 25 November 2023. At the beginning of the ceremonial proceedings, he was welcomed by Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre at the entrance of Commando Regimental Centre and accorded a ceremonial guard turnout and followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the parade ground.
Afterwards, he offered a floral tribute to fallen commandos at the Commando War memorial with all Commandos attended and after that, appeared for a group photograph with all Offers in front of the Officers' mess. Thereafter, Brigadier J M S G B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP addressed all Commando officers and NCOs at the Commando Regimental lecture hall.
During his address, he stressed the importance of maintaining a Commando Culture by all the commandos when both on and off duty. Further, he elaborated on the significant areas of his 33 years of military service by remembering all the veterans, senior offers, offrs, and NCOs who have immensely supported him during his unblemished and eventful military career. At last, a plaque was offered to Brigadier J M S G B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP by Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regiment as a token of appreciation for the service rendered to the Commando Regiment.
As an interaction session with all commandos presented, he was offered a tea party at Commando Club House Complex premises. After signing of visitors’ book at the officers’ mess the retiring brigadier was greeted by all Commandos with a street line up to the main entrance where he presented his last salute to the Commando Regiment.

As the last event of the scheduled programme, the Mess Night was Organized at the Commando Regimental Centre Officers Mess and Major General K H M S Wickramaratne RSP the Director General to the VII Executive president, Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre, Brigadier K V I L Jayaweera USP the Commander Commando Brigade, Commando Council members Senior Officers and Officers attended the event.
