The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Get Together - 2023 of Ex Commando Legion took place with the esteemed presence of the Father of Commando, Lieutenant Colonel S D Peiris (Retd) USP psc on 21 October 2023 at the Maroons Club House premises. The event witnessed a significant turnout, with over 500 attendees, including senior Commando Veterans, Veterans, serving senior officers, officers, and non-commissioned officers.
The event commenced with the registration of members, followed by the opening of the Ex-Commando Rendezvous by Lieutenant Colonel S D Peiris (Retd) USP psc. A poignant moment of paying floral tribute to fallen Commandos was observed, capturing the spirit of camaraderie among the participants. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the gathering, and the formal proceedings continued with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the Annual Get Together.
In the spirit of showcasing that "Still Nothing Impossible" a physical competition was organized, drawing the participation of more than 20 veterans across various age categories. The competition culminated in the recognition of winners, who were awarded financial and health-related gifts as tokens of appreciation.
The event achieved remarkable success under the leadership and guidance of Maj Gen P G P S Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, the General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division and Colonel of the Regiment of the Commando Regiment, Col P R S Jayasekara (Retd) RWP RSP psc, the Chairman of Ex Commando Legion, and Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP, the Centre Commandant of the Commando Regiment.
Further, the Centre Commandant, Commander Commando Brigade, several Senior Officers, Staff Officers, the Regimental Sergeant Major, and a few Warrant Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers from the Commando Regimental Centre also graced the occasion representing the serving members of the regiment.
