Blood Donation programme was organized by Commando Regiment Sewa Vanitha branch at Commando Regimental Centre on 26 July 2022 with the assistance of Colombo North Teaching Hospital in order to recover the urgent requirement of blood to the Colombo North Teaching Hospital.
A ceremony was organized to mark the event significant with the participation of Commander 1 Corps and the Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment Major General A K G K U Gnanaratne ndc psc and the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP along with other Officers and few members of Commando Sewa Vanitha branch.
The traditional Oil Lamp was lightened by the Commander 1 Corps and the Colonel of the Regiment of Commando regiment, the Centre Commandant, members of the Commando Sewa Vanitha branch and the head of the assistance team Doctor Janaki Dissanayake (Consultant Transfusion Physician) from Colombo North Teaching Hospital. The Centre Commandant welcomed all the participants and articulated the value of blood donation programme for the nation during his speech.
Total 116 blood donors consisting with Offrs, NCOs and civilian staff form Commando Regiment donated their blood during the programme.
