Major General Krishantha Gnanaratne ndc psc, assumed office as the Commander 1 Corps on 14 March 2022 amidst religious and traditional military formalities at the Headquarters 1 Corps at Kilinochchi.
The incoming Commander 1 Corps was warmly welcomed by the Brigadier General Staff 1 Corps, Brigadier JPC Peiris RWP RSP ndc and the Guard of Honour presented by troops belongs to 5th Battalion Gamunu Watch at the Headquarters’ parade square.
Later, Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne ndc psc officially took over the duties as the 2nd Commander of the 1 Corps and subsequently appeared for the group photographs with all the General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers under command to 1 Corps.
As the final stage of the programme the newly appointed Corps Commander addressed the troops at the “Nelumpiyasa” Multifunctional Hall and finally the commander attended a tea with all ranks at the same venue. The event was held with strict adherence to the health guidelines and regulations.
