Pirith Chanting and alms-giving ceremonies were held in the view of 43 anniversary of the Commando Regiment, at the Regimental Centre Commando Regiment on 23 and 24 Feb 2023.
The Pirith Chanting ceremony was coloured with traditional Perahera which commenced in front of the main entrance of the Commando Brigade and ended in front of the newly constructed Commando Regimental Headquarters Building on 23 March. Colonel of the Regiment of the Commando Regiment Maj Gen PGPS Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc graced the occasion along with Commando Offrs, NCOs and family members of the fallen war heroes.
The alms-giving in which alms were offered to 16 monks was held on 24th Feb at Commando Regimental Centre Lecture Hall with the presence of Brig JMSG B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP- Comdt MSTS, Brig VMN Hettiarachchi RWP RSP - Bde Comd Cdo Bde, Brig BMSKK Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP - Cen Comdt RHQCR and offrs ORs of the Commando Regiment. Thereafter, a Floral Tribute was held at the Commando War Memorial in memory of fallen Commandos who sacrificed their invaluable lives in the name of the motherland. Brig K H MS Wickramaratne RSP has attended as the senior most Commando Offr for the occasion. The ceremony was terminated after a panel discussion and refreshment session which organized at Meroons Club House Complex.
