The Commando Regiment organized a customary felicitation ceremony to newly promoted Major General K H M S Wikramarathne RSP on 14 November 2023 at Commando Regimental Centre premises to offer customary salute as Commandos.
The charming event lined up as ceremonial Guard Turnout after welcome the newly promoted Major General Madura Wikkramarathne by Brigadier Kamal Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre at the entrance of the Regimental Head Quater. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout followed by Guard of Honour salute at the regimental parade square. Thereafter, he was accompanied to offer floral tribute to Fallen Commandos at the Commando War Memorial All offrs and Senior Non Comissional Offices attended for This Occasion.
Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with all officers in front of the Commando Regiment Officers mess Then He addressed all the Commandos at the Regimental Centre lecture hall. During his brief address he reminded his military career spanning over 33 years and his speech mainly focused to thank all commando veterans, senior officers, officers and NCOs who immensely contributed to his successful military life up to now. Further, he stressed upon the importance of building reputation as an officer and a commando for a fruitful military life.
As the final segment of the event, a ceremonial tea party arranged at the Maroons Club House premises for all ranks.
