COMMANDOS BID FAREWELL TO RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL B P S DE SILVA RSP

Major General B P S de Silva RSP retired from the Sri Lanka Army on 17 January 2021. The retired Major General was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by a Guard of Honour salute at the Commando Regimental Centre on 15 January 2021. After the Guard of Honour, he offered floral tribute to fallen Commandos at the Commando Regiment War memorial.

Afterwards, he attended sequence of events including group photograph, troops address, tree planting, interaction session with officers and all ranks lunch. During his address to the cross section of Commandos, he emphasized the importance of maintaining highest metal and physical standards as Commandos in order to successfully perform the enthused tasks. Further, he extended his heart felt gratitude for the good conduct of officers and other rankers during the period of his tenure as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Commando Regiment.

In the evening, retired Major General Pradeep de Silva was invited for a formal farewell at the Commando Officers Mess with senior officers of the Regiment together with their spouses. A formal Mess Night was held on behalf of the outgoing Col of the Regt. At the termination of the farewell, Major General Pradeep de Silva was presented a token of appreciation by Major General Upali Rajapaksha and Mrs. Anuja de Silva was presented a token of appreciation by Mrs. Subhashini Rajapaksha.
