Brigadier U A A P Ubesiriwardana RSP USP retired from active service on 04 June 2023. At the beginning of the ceremonial proceedings, he was welcomed by Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre at the entrance of Commando Regimental Centre and accorded a ceremonial guard turnout and followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the parade ground.
Afterwards, he offered a floral tribute to fallen commandos at the Commando War memorial with all Commandos attended. Thereafter, Brigadier U A A P Ubesiriwardana RSP USP addressed all Commando officers and NCOs at the Commando Regimental lecture hall. During his brief address, he covered the battle experiences, Regiment procedures, how the regiment develop up today standard and all the memories of over 33 years of military career. Finally, he offered his gratitude to all commandos for their support to his successful military journey up to his retirement in the Commando Regiment.
As an interaction session with all commandos presented, he was offered with a tea party at Commando Club House Complex premises and after that, he appeared for a group photograph with all Offers in front of the Officers' mess. After signing of visitors’ book at the officers’ mess the retiring brigadier was greeted by all Commandos with a street line up to the main entrance where he presented his last salute to the Commando Regiment.
Brigadier V N M Hettiarachchi RWP RSP the Commando Brigade Commander, Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant of Commando regimental Centre, Council Members, senior and other officers and cross-section of NCOs from all Commando deployments were attended for the event.
As the last event of the scheduled programme, the Officers get together was held at the Commando Regimental Centre Officers Mess and Brigadier J M S G B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP Comdt – MSTS, Brigadier B M S K K Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP the Centre Commandant Commando Regimental Centre, Commando Council members attended the event with considerable numbers of Commando Officers.
