On 17 June 2024, a landmark event unfolded at the Regimental Center Ganemulla as the Commando Regiment "Sewa Wanitha" branch hosted its inaugural essential items donation program for the pregnant wives of the serving non-commissioned officers of the Commando Regiment. Moreover, on this special day, a civil servant working in the Commando Regimental Center obtained a full housing allowance. Spearheaded by Mrs. Nimali Ranathunga, President of the "Sewa Wanitha" branch, the event aimed to support families connected to the Commando regiment.
The occasion was graced by esteemed guests, including the Commander of the 53rd Infantry Division and Colonel of the Commando Regiment, Major General PGPS Rathnayake RWP RSP ndc, and the Commandant of the Regimental Center Commando Regiment, Brigadier BMSKK Dharmawardena RWP RSP USP. Also in attendance were senior officers, non-commissioned officers, and other dignitaries, highlighting the significance of the event.
A touching highlight of the day was the distribution of gift packs to 28 pregnant women, spouses of non-commissioned officers serving in the Commando Regiment. This gesture not only underscored community solidarity but also recognized the vital support provided by families of servicemen.
