75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CORPS OF ENGINEER SERVICES CELEBRATED WITH GRANDEUR

The 75th Anniversary of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) was celebrated in a grand ceremony at the CES Regimental Headquarters in Panagoda Cantonment on 10 January 2025. This momentous occasion was graced by Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the CES and General Officer Commanding of 22 Infantry Division.

The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the Colonel Commandant by Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant of CES and then he was honored with a Guard Turnout, a ceremonial tradition that set the tone for the event. By following the agenda, a floral tribute was paid to the fallen war heroes who had served the Corps with distinction and sacrifice. This poignant gesture reflected the deep respect and reverence the CES holds for its brave personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

Following the tribute, the Colonel Commandant inspected an impressive parade, showcasing the precision and discipline of the CES troops. The parade was a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the Corps, and it left a lasting impression on all those in attendance. The presence of former Colonel Commandants and Centre Commandants to witness the parade was a significant event.

A group photograph was taken with the Colonel Commandant, alongside the Officers and Other Ranks, marking a moment of unity and pride for the Corps.The gathering then moved to the tea party which were hosted at the Officers' Mess, Warrant officers’ and Sergeants' Mess, and All Ranks' Mess. The highlight of this part of the celebration was the cutting of the Anniversary Cake, a symbolic gesture of the Corps’ enduring legacy.

In his address to the officers, the Colonel Commandant expressed his deep appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Officers in the CES. He emphasized the Corps' vital role in supporting the Sri Lanka Army’s operations, highlighting the continued importance of engineering expertise in national defense. Later, the Colonel Commandant joined the personnel for a lunch, where he addressed all ranks, reflecting on the achievements of the CES and reinforcing the Corps’ commitment to excellence and service.

Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, The Director Engineer Services, Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, Brigadier Admin and Quartering SFHQ (West), Brigadier NWPSM Perera, the Centre Commandant CES, Brigadier MNJ Perera, Brigadier Admin and Quartering SFHQ (Wanni), Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the Anniversary celebration programme.

The 75th Anniversary celebrations were a fitting tribute to the proud history of the Corps of Engineer Services, and a reminder of its ongoing contributions to the Sri Lanka Army and the nation.
