Under the esteemed guidance of the present Colonel Commandant, Major General IANB Perera RWP USP ndu psc, a gathering of the former Colonel Commandants of the Corps of Engineer Services was organized to honour them for their dedicated service for the betterment of the corps. This distinguished event was held at Officers’ Mess of the Corps of Engineer Services in Panagoda on August 02 (Friday) which was resonant with pride and nostalgia.
At the entrance, distinguished invitees were warmly welcomed by the Colonel Commandant along with the president of CES Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs, Uditha Perera and the welcome address was delivered to the gathering by Major General Buddhika Perera conveying his appreciation for the significant achievements that the prior Colonel Commandants had made. He emphasized the rich history and steadfast devotion to duty that everyone had demonstrated while serving and passionately highlighted the history of the Corps, its development and the lasting legacy these great leaders left behind.
The Colonel Commandant presented mementos to the former Colonel Commandants as a token of appreciation to their unblemished service to the Corps. These gifts of gratitude functioned as concrete reminders of the unwavering dedication and spirit that have characterized the Corps throughout the years.
The event led to thought-provoking dialogues between current and former leaders during interactive sessions. An environment of respect and understanding was fostered by the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and wisdom and thoughts.
The former colonel commandants Brigadier R Ekanayaka USP, Brigadier K D A Perera, Major General M R W De Zoysa USP psc, Brigadier L M Tennakoon RSP, Major General S A G Sooriyaarachchi USP, Major General E M M Ambanpola USP, Major General K A P J Rathnayaka Lsc, Major General H L S Gunawardana RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Major General R Ganegoda psc, Major General K M S Kumara, Major General A H L G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc along with their beloved spouses and Mrs P D A Daluwaththa the spouse of late Brigadier P D A Daluwaththa USP were the distinguished participants in the event.
The Director Engineer Services Brigadier YKS Rangika psc ptsc, the Centre Commandant Brigadier KL Munasinghe USP, senior officers of the corps and senior members of the CES Seva Vanitha branch joined the event.
The event served as a moving homage to the Colonel Commandants who had made a lasting impression on the Corps' history. After the ceremony, there was a renewed sense of pride, gratitude, and resolve to preserve the illustrious history of the Corps of Engineer Services.
